With paperless animation, the animator will often need to hand-draw characters, frames, background and layout directly on the computer using an electronic pressure-sensitive drawing tablet. This technique is very similar to traditional animation in its process, the main difference being that it's all done on the computer. 3D Animation. 2D animation is how a typical animated television show is made. Artists put scenes and characters in a 2D space and use foreshortening and perspective to create space and depth. To give the drawings the illusion of movement, artists draw images and then photograph them one image at a time.
